As an amateur chipper I make some of my own metal lathe tooling. I utilzed the thrust bearings in my first shop made ball turning tool. Rather than a steel to steel grinding noise and sloppy action as the turning head rotates the action is as smooth as silk. I lubed the bearings with SAE 90 to help the bearings withstand the turning dorces.
