Heat Surge fireplace fan bushing replace January 29, 2014

The bushing in the fan motor assembly becomes squeaky and causes the fan drive coupling to fail. This bearing is a high quality exact replacement and has performed flawlessly for weeks now. We run this heater 24x7 during the winter. Right part upgrade for a very reasonable price!

3D Printing VXB Miniature Ball Bearings October 7, 2011

Based on Professor Eric Laithwaite's sketch  of a toy train turned by a gyroscope  I used a CAD program to make the rotor-in-a-channel design and had it printed with a 3D printer in plastic.  In order for the rotor to spin without friction  I mounted VXB bearings on the rotor.  Just as he said  the momentum of the gyro was transferred to the rotor causing it to spin in the outer channel.  The precision of the printing and bearings made this project successful.
